SpliT Radio

So, I found this brand new online radio station called SpliT Radio. They stream less mainstream alternative music. Perfect when you're in that 'kind of hardcore' mood, but you're sitting at home on your computer reading this blog. I love the music on this station, and I hope you will too:)

And, in addition, please note that, because the site is still under construction, there are a few bugs, but you can still hear the delicious music :) enjoy.

Song of the Day

Here it is, on time and just for you - the Song of the Day is...

Ambling Alp - Yeasayer

Be warned: if, later, you choose to watch the music video, brace yourself for the weirdness. Weird, "weird" is spelled with the "e" before the "i" which is weird. Hmmm

This Is Lo-fi Genius

This album is why Merrill Garbus is the newest edition to my list of most talented female musicians of our time. This work of lo-fi genius is inspiring and inventive in a very new and exciting way. It brings brilliant percussion together with erie ukelele, childhood innocence with clever willpower. I am thrilled to introduce this wonderful piece of art to you but at the same time must warn you: this is totally unlike anything I've heard before. It blew me away at how different it was. I recommend starting this album off with the song 'Sunlight' - if just to prepare you for the greatness:)

St. Vincent's rehabilitation center for the musically impaired

St. Vincent has made my list of most talented female musicians of our time for so many reasons. Her music has elements along the lines of beautiful, cute, creepy, scary, and insane. Her use of instruments is remarkably surprising: from her creative use of clarinet and flute to a not too mainstream take on guitar shrieking, the combination of creepy lyrics and Mary Poppins will send you into the most colorful yet dark musical high of your life.
Her newest album Actor was the soundtrack of my summer. :)
St. Vincent is amazing. Check her out.
